The Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl Party

The Nick Lowery Youth Foundation’s Champions for the Homeless program is humbled and honored to be this year’s featured charity at the Leigh Steinberg 2023 Super Bowl Party. But it’s not about us – its about honoring our homeless brothers and sisters, each with their own unique story.

Homelessness is not going away; according to a Washington Post story featuring the Ozanam Center at St Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, since Covid it has doubled among the elderly alone.

Your generous contribution is needed; we humbly thank you in advance for your help!

Champions for the Homeless (“Champions”) has humanized the homeless in Phoenix over 17 years and 61 events in a world that too often has thrown complex stories into a one-size-fits-all distancing human wastebin. Champions brings HOPE to those experiencing this tragedy and most importantly, with an army of superb volunteers serving thousands with the rarest gift of all – consistent, unconditional Love. Champions for the Homeless is a model for modern America, filling hearts with purpose, impacting over 20,000 in Phoenix, and potentially well over two million unhoused people in our country on a daily basis.

Working with the outstanding staff at St Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, we invite you to bring your own champion gifts to this community and elsewhere, feeding not only the complex needs of our community’s homeless, but also the beautiful hunger we each seek to fill within ourselves. To date we’ve provided nearly 100,000 hot meals, socks, underwear, backpacks, t shirts, haircuts, chiropractic services, scholarships, flowers and quality clothing for job interviews……love and soulful entertainment to our homeless brothers and sisters in the Greater Phoenix area, thanks to the generous donations of people just like you and me.

With much love and gratitude,

For The Love Of The Game

The 36th annual Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl Party will take place in Arizona at The Salt River Fields iconic Spring Training Stadium. We will celebrate the best in sports, honoring athletes, owners, coaches, and all of those who are making the world a better place. We are honored to spotlight Champions for the Homeless, a wonderful local organization.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11 2023 — 12:00 PM — 5:00 PM MST

The “love of the game” extends beyond football… The camaraderie, passion, discipline, teamwork, and dedication of loving a sport can extend far beyond the field or the court. If harnessed, the love of the game can translate to a love of humanity.  Athletes and their teams have the power to inspire, teach, raise awareness, and bring goodness into their communities.

For 35 years (and counting) – leaders in athletics, business, politics, health, tech, entertainment and the non-profit space gather to celebrate Super Bowl weekend with legendary sports agent Leigh Steinberg.  This year – We will celebrate not only “the big game” but the love of EVERY game, and the impact their players, coaches and partners can make in the world.

The 10th Annual Brain Summit and the Steinberg Denicola Humanitarian Awards will be featured highlights of this year’s event, along with an all-star lineup of sponsors and partners, gourmet stadium cuisine, cocktails featuring Bennie Red Vodka and Cabal Tequila, and as always – the most elite networking opportunities in sports, entertainment, and business.

Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment is proud to shine a spotlight on this year’s featured non-profit organization:  Champions for the Homeless at St. Vincent De Paul’s Homeless Shelter.

What We Do

‘Champions for the Homeless’ CBS 5

‘Champions for the Homeless’ handed out hundreds of plates, gift cards, food, and more to people in need in the Valley.

Former Kansas City Chief’s kicker Nick Lowery founded a group called Nick Lowery Youth Foundation 16 years ago, creating ‘Champions for the Homeless’ as a component of the organization. Lowery said, “Our job is to make the homeless brothers and sisters going through the most difficult time possibly in homelessness history with an exponential increase in homelessness. St. Vincent de Paul…is a sanctuary of unconditional love.”

This was the 59th event for the group serving the Valley. Want to volunteer or learn more about the organization? Click here.

‘Champions for the Homeless’ FOX 10

During Thanksgiving Day, a number of former NFL players gathered to help those in need during the annual Champions for the Homeless event.

“We have a doubling of homeless, especially among elderly homeless,” said Nick Lowery, a Hall of Fame kicker who once played for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lowery was one of several retired NFL players in Phoenix this holiday week, with a goal of helping those without a home this holiday season.

“When we find a way to help one person, it changes the chemistry in our brain, and we all have ability to make a difference,” said Lowery. “When you see people feeling safe and loved and understood and respected, those other layers just disappear, and they all have individual stories. I think Thanksgiving has really gotten away from what it’s really about: expressing gratitude and love. That’s what it is about.”

Thousands fed a warm Christmas meal

A warm Christmas meal went to thousands of people who are homeless on Christmas Day, thanks to St. Vincent de Paul. Hundreds of Valley volunteers helped make it happen. The event was called “Champions for the Homeless,” hosted by former NFL great Nick Lowery. holiday season.
