I don’t have to remind you of two consecutive Summers of record-setting heat over 110° including 105° today …on October 10th! Or should I mention that for every single person leaving homelessness right now, two are entering.

In "Naked and Alone with 80,000 People," I invite you to embark on a transformative journey through the highs and lows of my life, not for applause but to demonstrate that if I can overcome challenges, so can you. This book serves as a guide to self-improvement, urging you to embrace your challenges and commit to discovering a daily sense of purpose that propels you to new heights. My story revolves around the thousand rejections I faced while pursuing my dream of becoming the most accurate kicker in NFL History. It's a narrative of turning setbacks into a love affair with the work required to become a transcendent champion. As you read about my journey, you'll witness the fear of public humiliation in the face of thousands, the same fear that lurks in various forms in our everyday lives. Confronting this fear became a stepping stone not only toward my dream but also toward self-discovery. The journey to success, as I reveal, isn't about becoming a new person; it's about rediscovering and embracing the authentic "you" that has always been there. The real secret lies in recognizing that each step toward your dream is a step closer to finding yourself. I share moments of despair and triumph, highlighting the patterns that emerge each time we face the prospect of failure. Drawing insights from my encounters with legendary figures like Joe Montana and Coach Marv Levy, I emphasize the significance of perfect practice in building confidence.
‘Champions for the Homeless’ handed out hundreds of plates, gift cards, food, and more to people in need in the Valley.
Former Kansas City Chief’s kicker Nick Lowery founded a group called Nick Lowery Youth Foundation 16 years ago, creating ‘Champions for the Homeless’ as a component of the organization. Lowery said, “Our job is to make the homeless brothers and sisters going through the most difficult time possibly in homelessness history with an exponential increase in homelessness. St. Vincent de Paul…is a sanctuary of unconditional love.”

During Thanksgiving Day, a number of former NFL players gathered to help those in need during the annual Champions for the Homeless event.
“We have a doubling of homeless, especially among elderly homeless,” said Nick Lowery, a Hall of Fame kicker who once played for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lowery was one of several retired NFL players in Phoenix this holiday week, with a goal of helping those without a home this holiday season.
“When we find a way to help one person, it changes the chemistry in our brain, and we all have ability to make a difference,” said Lowery. “When you see people feeling safe and loved and understood and respected, those other layers just disappear, and they all have individual stories. I think Thanksgiving has really gotten away from what it’s really about: expressing gratitude and love. That’s what it is about.”
A warm Christmas meal went to thousands of people who are homeless on Christmas Day, thanks to St. Vincent de Paul. Hundreds of Valley volunteers helped make it happen. The event was called “Champions for the Homeless,” hosted by former NFL great Nick Lowery. holiday season.
It’s put on by Kansas City Hall of Famer Nick Lowery. He gets plenty of his NFL buddies to join in.
Christmas is a time for giving. Despite the pandemic, local organizations are giving more than ever on Christmas Day. The Nick Lowery Youth Foundation and St. Vincent de Paul held their 15th consecutive Christmas Champions event to serve the homeless.
People formed lines to get their Christmas meal and gifts this year in order to adhere to safety protocols. It looked quite different compared to last year, when people were packed inside the dining room, close together, hugging. But, the message every year is the same: we’re all in this together.
